Innovaero, an Australian sovereign Aerospace & Defence original equipment manufacturer (OEM), will showcase its autonomous systems at the Indian Ocean Defence & Security (IODS) Conference and Exhibition 2026. The event will take place in Perth from 26–28 May with Innovaero located at Booth 3D72, including a hardware-in-the-loop simulation supporting development of the high speed OWL-X system within Innovaero’s broader OWL family of autonomous systems.
The demonstration builds on Innovaero’s OWL-X Counter-Uncrewed Aerial Systems (Counter-UAS) development following an Army Innovation Day 2023 contract commenced in 2024. This reflects growing Defence focus on sovereign autonomous systems, strike and counter-drone technologies, affordable precision mass capability and scalable aerospace manufacturing capacity.
As global conflicts are accelerating investment into autonomous and uncrewed systems, Defence organisations are increasingly prioritising sovereign industrial capability, rapid capability development and resilient local manufacturing pathways. The growing operational impact of autonomous and uncrewed systems across air, maritime and land domains has reinforced the importance of sovereign industrial capability that can support production at scale, rapid adaptation and operational mass.
At IODS, Innovaero will engage with Defence, government and industry stakeholders on autonomous systems, aerospace engineering, advanced manufacturing and end-to-end aerospace OEM capability spanning design, certification, manufacturing, flight test and systems integration.
